Dr. med. Hans-Jürgen X. Kleiner

Dr. med. Hans-Jurgen X. Kleiner is a doctor and sculptor. Born in 1951, he is a married father of three children, who divides his time between Hechingen and Lisbon, where he works and lives.

Dr. Kleiner studied Human Medicine, Sports Science, and Art at The University of Freiburg and Berlin. He did clinical training in pathology, visceral and orthopedic surgery and completed his orthopedic training at the Orthopedic University Hospital Tübingen under professor Mau.

In 1992 Dr. Kleiner opened his own practice in Hechingen, as a specialist for functional orthopedics, osteopathy D.O. (DAAO) and sports medicine. He completed additional training and certification in chiropractic, manual medicine, atlas therapy (infants and adults), acupuncture and osteopathy (PCOM Philadelphia USA) and sports osteopathy.

As a former top athlete in cross-country skiing and cycling, a passion which he still enjoys today, Dr. Kleiner went on to be an instructor and trainer for the DSV.

Dr. Kleiner is an accomplished sculptor. The focus of his current work is “The human hand as gesture and sign.” He currently works in Hechingen, Pietrasanta (Italy) and Lisbon (Portugal). To my studio website

How I work

  • A holistic approach based on 40 years of experience, knowledge and innate body wisdom, that views the patient as a whole human being and not an assemblage of disconnected parts.
  • The ability to recognize that sometimes the place where it hurts is not always the underlying injury.
  • A gentle hands-on modality that facilitates healing from injury and disease through a client centred integrative path leading to health and well-being.
